When hiring a dog trainer/behaviourist you are not hiring a professional who will simply wave a wand and fix your dogs behaviour. It is a collaboration between you and your trainer. Your trainer will support, guide and teach you so that YOU can train your dog.
Consistency and dedication from you is key to your dogs progression. Although your trainer is a professional and can asses your dog as an individual, demonstrate how to work through these issues and put a plan in place to help, ultimately you are responsible for your dog overcoming any issues.
If you are inconsistent with training and decide to miss out pieces of the puzzle that your trainer has advised, that is your decision and yours alone.
If you have a dog it's important to understand the responsibility that comes with this from a behaviour perspective.
Would you blame your child's school because you failed to remind your child to do their homework? Or expect their school to be solely responsible for your child's development?
